We're a relaxed, friendly group of kite enthusiasts who meet regularly to fly, chat, build, and share ideas. Whether you're brand new to kites or a seasoned flyer, you'll find a warm welcome here.
Our members range from curious beginners to highly experienced flyers who have spent decades perfecting their craft. Everyone brings something different — skills, stories, creativity, and plenty of good humour.

Our small but well‑loved club library is packed with books, plans, and inspiration. Borrow a title, swap ideas, and learn from flyers with decades of experience.

Our Mission
The aim of Avon Kite Flyers is simple: To promote kite flying as a fun, creative, and inclusive pastime for all — regardless of age, ability, or gender.
We work with other kite groups and organisations to support newcomers and seasoned flyers alike. Whether you're just starting out, or looking to sharpen your skills, you'll find encouragement, advice, friendship and plenty of banter here.
AKF uses the online Kite Calendar to track events around the country — and beyond. Many of our members attend these gatherings regularly, so be sure to check it out and join in the fun.
The Kite CalendarWhen & Where We Meet
AKF meet on the first and last Sunday of each month (more frequently during the summer months), with spontaneous flying happening regularly too. Everyone is welcome — come along and say hello.
